When he debuted on April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson changed the landscape of the National Pastime — and the nation itself. Driving a major crack through one color line, Robinson fought after his Hall of Fame career to break more barriers and push for progress in all facets of the game.

Rowan Ricardo Phillips, curatorial consultant for the Hall of Fame's Black Baseball Initiative, shows how Robinson transcended a moment to represent a decades-long movement. These stories and more will be told in the Museum's newest exhibit, The Souls of the Game: Voices of Black Baseball, opening May 25, 2024.
