The Indian government gears up for a shift from existing highway toll plazas towards a GPS-based toll collection system in the country. This system is already operational on select highways like the Mumbai-based Atal Setu, & scans moving vehicles' number plates and automatically deducts tolls from linked bank accounts. Unlike FASTags, which require vehicles to slow down at RFID scanners, the GPS system eliminates the need for stopping altogether. The Cameras equipped with Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology capture licence plates on the go, ensuring seamless toll collection without any traffic bottlenecks. Watch & Share!
