The idea of Work-Life Balance has been outdated ever since the smartphone became mainstream, but COVID-19 has brought the need for a new model of well-being to the forefront. Striving for the unattainable work-life balance leads to guilt and dissatisfaction in life. It is time for a model of work-life integration and flexibility which prioritizes the unique needs and core values of the individual. An individual's life does not stop when school or work begins and their goals and visions for their career do not stop when personal time begins! Fulfillment and satisfaction will come when meaningful core components are a regular part of an individual's life with the understanding that at certain times one area will require more time and effort. Instead of feeling guilty about not being in perfect balance, embrace those "imbalances" as a natural part of life, and focus on making the moments you have high quality moments.
