The VW ID4, like all EVs loses range in the winter time. This video aims to show you just how much range is lost, especially if you use the heater consistently.

Currently, there are no United Stated Volkswagen ID4's that offer a heat pump option, though they can be found in Europe already. Heat pumps can help mitigate the loss of range in cold temperatures for electric vehicles, but it doesn't stop all of it.

If you are someone who is new to electric cars, I hope this video is helpful in showing you the impact of cold weather on these vehicles and help you decide if you will be able to live with them during the winter months.

I also did a highway range test back when the temperature was around 70 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit and at 70 mph or so, I was able to achieve close to the EPA estimate.

For this video, I will cover:

- Initial DC fast charging speeds for the ID4 when the battery is cold
- Charging time for ~50% - 100% battery in cold weather and cost at Electrify America
- Average miles per kWh in cold weather at highway speeds
- Charging speeds after the ID 4's battery has warmed
