I got my first bike when I was eleven years old. I grew up free riding the Hog Backs in Canon City, Colorado. Growing up we didn't have the money to have nice new bikes let alone pay for racing. I didn't know any different and I was so thankful for what I had. I was so happy just being on two wheels and twisting that throttle! After my first few rides, I quickly learned that I loved to jump my bike more than anything! The Hog Backs offered a very diversified terrain allowing for all styles of riding. There were jumps, hills to climb, turn tracks, and much more. All of these elements allowed me to develop a skill set in each area. Without even knowing it, I was being conditioned for the next riding chapter of my life.

When I was 14, I saw my riding buddy, Tim Reed, do a heel clicker. That was the coolest thing that I had ever seen done on a dirt bike! This was the spark of my freestyle motocross career! I went straight home, cut my fenders off and cut grab holes in my air box. A year later I went to the 2015 Denver Dew tour to watch my first FMX contest. Big names like Travis Pastrana, Kenny Bartram, and Nate Adams were competing that weekend. After watching this contest, I knew that Freestyle Motocross was what I wanted to grow up and do!

As a kid the backflip was the coolest trick and of course now I wanted to do a backflip! I had my first foam pit experience in Montrose, Colorado. Toby Whittington, was a freestyle rider in that area who had a pit. I had no idea that I would be trying a backflip for my first time that day when I was headed over to ride with him. He had offered me the opportunity to try a flip in his pit while I was there riding. As a 15 year old kid there was no way I was saying no to that! I tried flipping twice and both attempts I landed straight upside down with the bike on top of me. This had lit a fire in my soul and now I wanted to do a backflip more than ever! I headed back home motivated to make this happen. My buddy, Blue, Cory, had built a foam pit on his property located in Penrose, Colorado. This pit was really only big enough for bicycles and mini bikes. Blue and I, had practiced the flip on a little KX 85 for a couple months. We set a date on when we wanted to take it to dirt and worked hard up until then. When it came time we flipped a coin to see who would go first. That day we both had successfully landed several of our first flips to dirt. I will never forget that feeling!

Freestyle Motocross has given me the opportunity to have an amazing riding career. I have been able to travel all over the world to ride my bike! Ive met so many amazing people and experience so many different cultures. Also I have had the support of so many amazing sponsors like EVS Sports, Kicker Audio, and Maxima Oils. I am going on 23 years of riding dirt bikes and at the end of the day free riding is still a true passion!

Thank you EVS Sports for putting this video together for me!
