I don't know what it is with Disobedience. I can't remember when a movie last touched me this way.
I was reading some comments about this movie after watching it and some of them made me really upset. I was kind of horrified by the way people are still thinking today -in so many ways.
Those comments were showing me that these stories need to be told. More than ever. Because people are really thinking they are much more tolerant than 100 yrs ago. Sure, some are but a lot of people are not.
This is why I made my first edit ever. I couldn´t forget all the negative comments I read. I want to support a story which obviously needs to be told and I want to support people who struggle.
To all the murmurer outside:
The mystery of feelings is nothing you can influence. They're either there or not. It's not a choice who you love. But it's your choice to condemn people by telling, being gay is a "disgusting sickness" that can be healed by God. Go and inform yourself about this theme- it's not infectious, I swear. Otherwise you can be healed by God, like you are thinking.
"That's the way it should be", is never an argument. It's just social given thinking. There are still so many people outside which are just following social constraints. If they're happy with it, I'm happy for them. But I can still see a lot of people following social constraints just to be like society want them to be. Remember, we're all oh so tolerant. So where's your tolerance by judging people who decided to live their lifes different?
Over the years people were laughing as a teenager was fu**ing an Apple Pie or as Mary put some sperm in her hair. They bombard cinemas to see how a millionaire wants to give his sweetie a good hiding and they are disgusted by a spit? I even read some comments like "it's not a thing we lesbians are doing". The thing is, society would define me as straight. I wasn't seeing a "lesbian thing". I just saw a unique thing between two humans.
I really do believe that this world would be a more tolerant and free world if people would stop categorizing everything and anything. You're gay, you're straight, you're upper class, you're underclass and someone was really telling me that I have German blood in my veins. No, not at all. I just have blood. We all do.
In the end, we're all just humans. Humans with feelings, inner conflicts and who have to make choices. Humans who struggle. Humans who should respect each other instead of being condemned by the categories we are all put in. Exactly what this movie is about.
Life is not just about that IS the only right way or this IS the wrong way. This world is not just black and white. Look out of your window. I can see trees. Aren´t their colours just beautiful these days?
So are human souls.
