The Volkswagen Arteon was launched in 2017 and received its facelift in 2020. This gave the German 4.87 m long, 1.87 m wide and 1.45 m high a very slightly modified nose and rear bumper. However, that facelift did bring a Shooting Brake to the range! A station wagon that may look even more attractive and dynamic than the already very handsome sedan, even in 2023, now that it is at the end of its career. But the real strength of the Arteon is that it doesn't have to rely solely on its design to convince!

No more buttons for the Arteon
Since 2020, the Arteon has also received a slightly different dashboard. Its central clock has been replaced by larger technological equipment. The excellent and ultra-customisable 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit is now standard, while the central display measures 8 inches or optionally 9.2 inches. The infotainment system itself is easy to use and responsive, with a flawless and wireless connection to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Surprisingly, we prefer the smaller screen, which retains its real dials to control volume, among other things. With the optional screen you have to get used to haptic controls, which can now be found everywhere on board, from the steering wheel to the air conditioning! Fortunately, you don't have to adjust the temperature via the central screen, that's something.

Petrol, diesel and eHybrid

In addition to the sporty R version with its 2-litre turbo petrol of 235 kW (320 hp), which accelerates the Arteon to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, four other engines are available for the German travel sedan. On petrol there is a 2 liter four-cylinder with 140 kW (190 hp) and 320 Nm, with a sprint from 0-100 km in 8 seconds and a top speed of 233 km/h. On diesel, it is also a 2 liter four-cylinder, with a power of 110 kW (150 hp) and 360 Nm, or 147 kW (200 hp) and 400 Nm. The first goes from 0-100 km/h in 9.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 216 km/h, while the second can go all the way to 230 km/h and reaches 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds thanks to its four wheel drive. All combustion engines are coupled as standard to a 7-speed DSG
automatic transmission.

Price Volkswagen Arteon Shooting Brake
As mentioned above, the Arteon Shooting Brake is still available with 5 motorisations in Belgium. The 150 hp diesel starts at 54,230 euros, while the 200 hp version requires a minimum amount of 61,625 euros. The only 'regular' petrol engine is available from 57,070 euros. The plug-in hybrid has a starting price of 62,460 euros, and you can get the sporty R version for a minimum of 75,040 euros.

Der Volkswagen Arteon kam 2017 auf den Markt und erhielt 2020 sein Facelift. Dadurch erhielt der 4,87 m lange, 1,87 m breite und 1,45 m hohe Deutsche eine ganz leicht veränderte Nase und Heckstoßstange. Allerdings brachte dieses Facelift einen Shooting Brake in die Produktpalette! Ein Kombi, der vielleicht auch im Jahr 2023, am Ende seiner Karriere, noch attraktiver und dynamischer aussieht als die ohnehin schon sehr schöne Limousine. Doch die wahre Stärke des Arteon liegt darin, dass er sich nicht allein auf sein Design verlassen muss, um zu überzeugen!


Der Arteon Shooting Brake kombiniert einen Radstand von 2,84 m und eine relativ kurze Motorhaube, um seinen Insassen großzügigen Innenraum zu bieten, insbesondere im Fond! Dort kann man mit den Füßen unter den Vordersitzen fast die Beine ausstrecken. Das Reisen an Bord des Arteon ist daher, auch dank des großen Koffers, problemlos möglich. Das Ladevolumen wächst von 565 auf 1.632 Liter bei den Versionen mit Verbrennungsmotor bzw. 455 auf 1.497 Liter beim Plug-in-Hybrilen, das ist etwas...


Unser Urteil
Auch im Jahr 2023 ist die Linienführung des Arteon Shooting Brake noch genauso begehrenswert wie bei seiner Markteinführung im Jahr 2020. Aber es ist nicht so, dass er sportlich aussieht, sondern dass er sich auch so fährt. Den gibt es nur mit Vierzylindern und das Fahrverhalten gleicht eher dem eines reinen und homogenen Familienautos. Eine Rolle, die er durch sein beeindruckendes Platzangebot im Fond und den geräumigen Kofferraum auszeichnet. Schade, dass die Dämpfung nicht so weich ist wie bei den technischen Pendants aus dem VW-Konzern. Allerdings können wir das dank seiner praktischen Art und seiner sexy Linie schnell übersehen. Wir werden den Arteon zweifellos vermissen, wenn er in den Ruhestand geht ...
