Vehicles can lose traction in various conditions from puddles to black ice. To help regain control on slippery roads, the Toyota Research Institute has been busy developing Nonlinear Model Predictive Control to automatically steer cars to safety. TRI recently demo'd the technology at Thunderhill Raceway in California through a drifting course--a world's first for an autonomous system. Can't wait to see this technology hit the market.
