Between the 1930s and 1950s, huge tobacco companies, like RJ Reynolds (makers of Camel) and Philip Morris (makers of Marlboro), used doctors to promote their cigarettes. Thousands of radio ads, print ads, and commercials featured medical professionals claiming that cigarettes weren’t harmful and actually beneficial to your health. Nowadays these claims would be ridiculous, but back then people believed them!
