Many scholars claim that globalization is dead, and that global trade has peaked. New concepts like friendshoring, homeshoring, deglobalization, and decoupling, tend to dominate this debate. Meanwhile, the World Trade Organization is in a crisis, adding to the sense that global trade is in trouble. But is it really true that globalization is dead? And if yes, what consequences will that have on trade and economic cooperation between countries? Cecilia Malmström (Peterson Institute for International Economics) discusses with Børge Brende (World Economic Forum; Former Foreign Minister of Norway), Arancha Gonzalez (Paris School of International Affairs, Sciences Po; Former Foreign Minister of Spain), and Adam S. Posen (PIIE) in this episode of the PIIE event series Trade Winds on January 25, 2023.
