Feature-length episode, originally broadcast as a four-parter.
** Apologies for the less than ideal audio quality on this. Would need a fair bit of time thrown at it to bring it up to muster - sadly which I can't spare right now. Still, hope it doesn't spoil things too much. **
Ian McShane stars as Peter Curtis, who has just been released from prison after serving four years for manslaughter. His victim's mysterious last words lead him on a frantic quest for answers in the tidal estuaries of the West of England, where he finds himself on a collision course with other parties who are as eager to solve the mystery as he is, and are seemingly even prepared to kill to find the answer.

Very atmospheric and moody with an excellent central performance from McShane who was extremely cool back in the seventies, very laid back and velvet voiced (an asset which features a lot in this voice over heavy production) and some interesting guest appearances too from the likes of John Bird, Terence Rigby and Kika Markham. Anna Fox who has a small role in episode one played Brian Hammond’s semi love interest in a couple of the early seasons of The Brothers.

At the same time, it is admittedly quite a flawed production, including a rather unconvincing plot and lacking in chemistry between the actors.

(Several weeks after posting, I'm finding it quite mystifying how YouTube has promoted this to being by far the most popular video on this channel! Still, fair enough if people are enjoying it.)

Originally broadcast 11 – 20 March 1980.)
