When you replace leaf springs, you should use fresh U-bolts. The threads on U-bolts are rolled on, rather than cut. A fully torqued U-bolt deforms and will not be able to be retorqued.
In order to measure U-bolts for replacement, we need to know the diameter of the thread, the length of the U-bolt from the inside of the U to the end of the thread, the width of the U-bolt measured close to the end of the U, and the shape of the U-bolt. U-bolts can be rounded or square.
Make sure you torque your U-bolt to factory specifications. Use oil, and retorque after about fifty miles of initial driving.
