We’re pretty sure thousands of hearts collectively broke around the world when news came that our Duke of Hasting - Regé-Jean Page - would not be returning to the screen in Bridgerton, despite having a very generous contract offer. Why in the world would he choose to quit the series that shot him to fame? Well, the truth is, that was always the plan! When initially offered the role of the Duke, Page was only offered a year long contract since his character’s story arc was meant to be completed over the first season - which it did. However, once the producers saw what a star he was and how successful the series had become, they made the wise idea to consider extending his storyline and having him appear as a guest star for a few episodes, but for Page, the character’s arc was done and he was looking ahead to working on other projects. He’s already filming a new Russo brother movie, “The Gray Man”. The way the series is written facilitates characters having a one season storyline, but we do know that Phoebe Dynevor will still be reprising her role as Daphne. As for Page - what’s next? He had offers coming at him from all directions, which is no surprise. Aside from The Gray Man, wwe know he is also slated to take the screen in the upcoming Paramount feature called “Dungeons & Dragons”. There is one rumour afloat of a potential role for Page that could make him an even bigger, international superstar. We know he looks good in formal wear, so we have no doubt that he could fill the shoes of James Bond without much trouble!
