In this video, I cover two things. I cover Relocating and securing the boat batteries in the 83 Boston Whaler Montauk to the center console and sealing fresh wood for the new center console floor boards. Waterproofing bare wood is critical in my opinion. Although this DIY is for a Montauk, you can use this for any bot that has center console.

I chose this location to place the batteries for several reasons, being able to easily access and route the battery cables once one. Second was the fact that this placement let the console floor rest solidly on the ledges.

In my opinion, sealing bare wood is critical. I decided to use the TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy to seal the boat center console floor. This is a specially formulated epoxy resin that has a very low viscosity. It is designed to penetrate and strengthen as well as waterproof wood.

I also used the Seachoice dual battery tray to securely mount the batteries. I want to make sure there isn't a marine battery bouncing around in the console, so a secure battery mount is important to me. There aren’t too many dual battery trays available so this seemed like a good option for me.
