Netflix's Avatar the Last Airbender is about to premiere this week and while early reviews have been positive, there's still a lot of mixed reactions amongst fans who are either very excited or very concerned for the live-action remake. With recent interviews, I think the real problem with Netflix's Avatar reboot is that they're not willing to fully embrace the show's roots as a Nickelodeon show. They feel almost ashamed of the origins and light hearted adventures that introduced Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko and Toph to a generation, wanting to jump straight into the dark and gritty aspects of the story instead. Not wanting something to replace Stranger Things, but something that can compete with the likes of Game of Thrones. Let's talk about my concerns for the series and hope that I'm proven wrong in a few days!
