“Torah, Psalms, Gospel, Quran – / what these books have to say, / we found in the body.
~ Yunus Emre

The path of the Sufi is an embodied one, in the same way that the more general Fourth Way paths are, for one very important reason: Your body is the one tool you have for interacting with the Universe.

Ironically, many people are actively taught differently these days, to the point where folks seem to experience their bodies as separate and even independent from what they consider their “selves”. But we wish to offer a bit of an antidote to this sad state of affairs.

As with Gurdjieff’s “dances”, some Sufi schools have used movement as a way of unifying body, heart, mind, and breath. Sufis also have several meditative practices to accomplish this unification.

To awaken the body is to “tune your instrument”, so that you may have the clearest view of The Real possible.

Let’s take an hour to see how these practices can aid us on our journey to wholeness.
