I review the Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra 1500 with the big 6.2L V8 engine (L87) as a Heavy Duty Mechanic. This Engine is putting out 420 Horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque and see how well it can Tow. I compare 6.2L V8 to the 3.5L Eco boost in the f150's on my towing test and go over Acceleration, Fuel Economy (mpg), engine braking, Pulling steep hills and much more on this heavy hitting towing challenge.

I have the absolute pleasure of towing with the new 6.2L engine from GM to see if this monstrous V8 engine can take the towing crown away from the very powerful 3.5L Eco boost in the f150 lineup from Ford.

The Eco boost does have more torque sitting at 500lb-ft but has less horsepower so it will be interesting to see which truck and engine will be the better towing unit.

I always tow my 8,000lbs trailer set for about 200km and on this truck it became very obvious very quickly that this large displacement 6.2L engine is packing huge power, it made easy work of my 8000lbs trailer and just felt like there was plenty of power at all RPM ranges.

Overall I think the 6.2L engine is a very stout unit and has some awesome performance but I still think the 3.5L Ecoboost is the better towing engine at least in purely a performance test. the 6.2L is clearly the best towing V8 on the market in the 1500 truck segment without a doubt and the best towing engine that Chevy and GMC have to offer in their 1500 lineup.

I hope you guys liked the video!
