As a teenager, Omar Rutledge was a US infantry soldier in Iraq. When he got out of the Army and returned home to the US, everything seemed different. The war had changed him. Now, as a neuroscientist at the McGovern Institute, Omar wants to understand how trauma changes the brain, and more importantly, he hopes to develop better treatments for people struggling with mental health.
