The adventure with our new Land Rover Discovery Series 2 begins where every Land Rover adventure begins - the gas station... The Disco 2 is somehow worse on fuel economy than even the 5.0L V8 that I'm used to in my 2011 Range Rover HSE LUX L322. However, shortly after leaving the gas station, our 2002 Land Rover Discovery 2 SD7 ran into a few more issues that we weren't expecting to deal with on our used cheap Land Rover Discovery 2...

For starters, we were told to be cautious with using the A/C in our 2002 Land Rover Discovery 2 as running it for too long at idle or high speeds can cause the engine to start overheating... So with a 2 hour drive back to the house, I wasn't too thrilled to be driving our cheap used Land Rover Discovery 2 back the entire way. But things took an even worse turn when our Discovery 2 broke 5 minutes after buying it.

While at the gas station where we filled up our 2002 Land Rover Discovery 2 SD7, the passenger door was left cracked open. In a normal car, that's not a big deal at all. So I decided I was going to try to close the door while driving down the road. That's when the door panel on our Land Rover Disco 2 fell off with the door lock falling down into that door...

Yep, that's right. Our Land Rover Discovery 2 already ate one of its door locks when falling into the door. Nobody said Land Rover ownership was going to be easy, but I figured we would at least have a solid 30 minutes before something broke... Luckily, we did learn that the hazard lights do work our on 2002 Land Rover Discovery Series 2 SD7 with the ARB front bumper, so that's a plus!

After that, though, it was smooth sailing the rest of the way home - minus issues with the air conditioning leaving me drenched in a pool of my own sweat. Overall, I'm very impressed with the performance of our cheap Land Rover Discovery 2, and I'm excited that we're going to be taking it on the adventures we have planned for it over the next few months. Hopefully, all goes well and our 2002 Land Rover Disco 2 makes it through like a champ... Otherwise, I'll be keeping lots of oil for it in the back!
