Sure, most people buy SUVs these days. But you can still get amazing performance and plenty of space from the midsize set. Here in Australia, we’re fairly spoilt for choice, actually. There’s the Mazda 6 with its 2.5-litre turbo engine, available in sedan and wagon. There’s the new Hyundai Sonata with its 2.5-litre turbo and dual-clutch auto. And there are other choices, like the Skoda Superb, Volkswagen Passat, Honda Accord and Kia Stinger. See, you don’t need an SUV!

But out of the Sonata and the Mazda 6, which is crowned the king of the midsize FWD turbo set?
