Why did we go for a big bike ride? Pretty simple; we kicked the beginning of the 2024 off with a goal of riding every day for the month of January...well, we couldn't stop there & we've ridden every day since & to celebrate our 69th day (yes we're children) we went for a a 69 mile bike ride to celebrate.

After setting sights on this distance I hit up my Matt Cordova & Chase Willie to see if they'd like to join, without hesitation they were both in. Conveniently enough Brave New Wheel, one of my favorite bike shops located in Fort Collins, was nearly at the half way point of the ride so Chase got to work planning a route up there. The final result took us on 75% rural roads & 25% bike path from Longmont to Fort Collins & back. The route was stellar, very little car traffic, killer views, & lots of smiles both directions.

Weather wise we got treated, leaving to 35*f at 9am with a high of 50*f & a light breeze of 3mph out of the south east - we couldn't have asked for a better day! Outside of a small mechanical issue Chase started to experience with a bolt backing out of his bottom bracket that we solved at Brave, it was smooth sailing.

After a solid two months of riding nonstop this distance honestly felt pretty easy which was a very welcome feeling, I'm really getting stoked for the spring season in Colorado & some big days out on the bike. It was fun getting out with this crew on a ride like this because this was in Chase's wheel house as he's done 150+ mile days & 600+ mile trips on his gravel bike in the past but on the opposite side of the spectrum Matt had never ridden anything really over 20 miles, but everyone finished strong & stoked.

One last thing to note is the variance on our bicycle setups - Chase was riding a 700c Carbon 3T Exploro which was the most efficient setup, I was on my 27.5" Steel Fairdale Weekender Nomad so I was comfortable & able to comfortably move around my drop bars, & Matt was on a 27.5" flat bar Fairdale City bike which was not the most ideal setup for this but he crushed the miles! What I'm getting at is this; stop over analyzing your bike setup & just get out there, set some goals, & ride! The type of bike, the way it's setup only means so much if you're not out there spinning the cranks.

Thank you so much for riding with us! We've got some exciting content in the works & can't wait to share more soon.

All Love - Stay RAD,

-Mike
