For a long time, Manzana Nazarene Primary School, located at Mliba, has been facing these challenges:
🔸water scarcity
🔸lack of toilets that meet sanitation standards, making them health hazards to the learners
🔸shortage of classrooms, such that learners would be over packed in their classrooms
🔸breakout of contagious illnesses caused by lack of sanitation and hygiene
“Our teachers would even struggle to move around whilst teaching. These challenges really affected us as a school”, Nozipho Magagula, the primary’s principal echoed during a
celebratory event held at the school yesterday.
Our wish is that every child experiences life in all its fullness, including learning in a safe and nurturing environment and we can only achieve this through impactful partnership that align with our vision and mission. Through the help of Dong Tan Zion Methodist Church from World Vision Korea support office, Manzana Primary received a donation of E1m bound for developing the school in 2019.
This benefaction indeed turned the school around, from new structures to water harvesting equipment. Madlangempisi Area Programme, a transitioned World Vision Eswatini AP, ensured that 3 electrified classrooms were built; 135 desks and 135 chairs
were received; supported them with learning materials including chalkboards and bulletin boards; two 3000l water tanks; toilets capable of serving 5 girls and 5 boys at a time, plus, two teacher’s toilets; handwashing facilities; 8 dustbins and personal protective equipment during the pandemic.
“World Vision has been of great help. Last year (2023), we obtained a 99% pass rate, something we’ve never experienced. There’s also been a massive decline on the rate of contagious illnesses in our school and, we can even practice water harvesting now. We are truly grateful and promise to ensure that this change will last for a very long time”, Magagula said.
Thank you Dong Tan Zion Methodist Church for guaranteeing that children have a productive and fulfilling life!
