Jordan Peele's Get Out: The White Invasion of the Body Snatchers || Jordan Peele’s Get Out is a great addition to the horror genre started by 1956's Invasion of the Body Snatchers, because it highlights its roots to whiteness instead of the anti-communist propaganda it originally tried to be. So I explain how Invasion of the Body Snatchers better reflects the evolution of whiteness to Americanization, how it uses racism, systemic racism and respectability politics to claim both the bodies and cultures of black people and other people of color, and how Get Out acts as reclamation for the loss of individualism body snatcher horror represents.
