Talking Tech’s tour of #CES2024 demos continues with Intel Engineering Manager Tim Brown, who shows us how Meteor Lake’s low-power E-cores can reduce power consumption for laptops. Using special equipment that measures wattage at the processor level, we see how power consumption changes as low-power E-cores are enabled and disabled during 4K offline video playback. The Intel Core Ultra’s disaggregated design puts key components on the SoC tile, allowing it to turn off CPU, GPU, and I/O tiles during lighter loads.
