How I protect my touring bike when checking it onto a flight. We flew Condor airlines from SFO to FRA, they charged us $115 USD each way to bring our bike boxes. The bike box limits are: 30KG; and dimensions are: 200x40x100cm or 300x40x60cm.

When we arrived in Frankfurt, we stayed at the Sheraton across the street. They let us store our bike boxes in their luggage room for 3 weeks while we toured though Switzerland, Austria, France and Germany. Since one box was smaller, it was able to nest inside the larger box and take up less space. When we returned, it was quick and easy to re-box our bikes since we kept photos of how iall the packing materials get assembled.
