In our latest series of videos, we are going to talk you through each and every component as we build up Josh Carlson’s brand-new UCI Enduro World Cup course preview bike. The bike is a Canyon Strive Underdog and is raced at WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series level by Jesse Melamed and the rest of the Canyon CLLCTV squad.

Building a brand-new bike from scratch always makes for a useful opportunity to bust some jargon. Here is a handy guide to what Josh is discussing in the video:

Shred time – What Josh does on a bike when left to his own devices.

Rim width – The distance between the two inside edges of a wheel rim.

Tyre pressure – How much air is inside a tyre.

IceTec rotors - Shimano’s top-of-the-range rotors which offer a mixture of metals to better shed heat and improve consistency of braking.

Tubeless – General term for a tyre and rim interface which negates the need for a traditional inner tube.

Latex sealant – Liquid sealant added inside a tubeless tyre which plugs any holes created in a tyre when riding.

Don’t forget to consult and adhere to all of your bike manufacturers stipulated torque settings and assembly instructions if working on your own bike. If you have any uncertainty at all about any stage of any build process speak to either the bike or product manufacturer or to your nearest quality local bike shop.
