Scott Davis interviews Tahar Rahim (Judas Iscariot) on the red carpet of a special screening of Mary Magdalene, held at the National Gallery in London on the 26th of February, 2018.

He rose to fame in the 2009 film A Prophet, and has been seen in Grand Central, The Eagle, Samba and many more films over the last decade. Here he talks about his surprise at the complexity and the human side of the script. How it brought a contemporary way to tell the story. He also talks of a spiritual experience of being directed by Garth Davis, and the importance of truth in teh films.

An authentic and humanistic portrait of one of the most enigmatic and misunderstood spiritual figures in history. The biblical biopic tells the story of Mary (Rooney Mara), a young woman in search of a new way of living. Constricted by the hierarchies of the day, Mary defies her traditional family to join a new social movement led by the charismatic Jesus of Nazareth (Joaquin Phoenix). She soon finds a place for herself within the movement and at the heart of a journey that will lead to Jerusalem.

Mary Magdalene is released in UK cinemas 1 March 2018.
