This video shows how I forge a Tomahawk from an old claw hammer. Old claw hammers are cheap and easy to come by. The hammer used in this video cost me 1 dollar and I wanted to see how much work it would take to make it into a decent looking Tomahawk. When making axes from old hammers they always retain a little of their old look in the final piece. The forging process didn't actually take that long. The majority of the time was spent on the heat treating, handle and sheath. I feel that in the end a claw hammer makes a pretty good looking tomahawk.

Beckett’s Blacksmithing
At Beckett’s Blacksmithing I specialize in hand forged products and custom decorative ironwork. I use traditional tools and methods and heat my steel in a coal fired forge. In addition to this, I use modern tools such as welders, power tools, and gas torches to bring this ancient trade into the modern era.
