Project of the Year Symposium 2018

The Boeing Center held its 2nd annual Project of the Year Symposium, a competition highlighting six of our most impactful corporate mini-consulting projects from the 2017-2018 academic year. The students who made up the project teams presented the projects and competed on multiple dimensions of performance for three different awards. The teams competed for a share of the $10,500 award pool and induction into the Boeing Center Projects Hall of Fame. Each team had 15 minutes in front of a panel of judges made up of Boeing Center advisory board members and representatives to present their work. After much deliberation by the judges panel, it was determined that the AB InBev team had delivered the best overall project performance, had dealt with a challenging issue, was promised significant cost savings upon implementation, and was decided the Project of the Year winner. The Business Impact award was given to the West Pharma team, with the company representatives praising the effectiveness of the solution and its immediate implementation at a global scale upon project completion. The Monsanto team impressed the judges with the quality of its work and its exceptional presentation, and received the Best Presentation award.

While all of our project teams did an excellent job this year, these three demonstrated a particularly high level of execution, which set them apart. And a special thanks goes out to our judges and board members in attendance: Mike Woerner (Edward Jones), Joe Jordan (Edward Jones), Wilfried Oebel (West Pharma), Zack Borys (West Pharma), Becky McDonough (Monsanto), and of course our own Sergio Chayet (WashU) and Panos Kouvelis (WashU & BCSCI Director).
