British Heart Foundation (BHF) celebrated its 6th annual Heart Hero Awards on Wednesday 6 December 2023 at Glaziers Hall in London.

The annual awards celebrate the incredible supporters who go above and beyond for BHF, including those who have shown outstanding loyalty and dedication to further the mission of BHF over several years.

An Outstanding Contribution is showcased by supporting BHF through a variety of ways; including raising awareness of BHF lifesaving research and promoting our cause, achieving exceptional fundraising success, educating and informing the public about important heart health messages, or helping to shape our work to reflect the needs of patients and their families.

For over 25 years, Geoff Fisher has organised the Armathwaite Challenge Walk raising over £71,000 towards BHF cardiovascular research and to help people recover after heart attacks and other heart related issues.

Geoff started raising funds and awareness of BHF’s science after four people that he knew lost their lives to heart related illnesses within 12 months of each other, two of which were younger than himself at the time.

With support from friends, family and the local community, Geoff is determined to reach a target £100,000 towards BHF lifesaving research.
