This SLS AMG is the reincarnation of the legendary 300 SL Gullwing. In 1952, Mercedes-Benz built ten units of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupé, a car designed for racing, characterized by gull-wing doors. The car participated in the Mille Miglia and the Carrera Panamericana. It then turned out that the car design appealed to many people. Mercedes-Benz therefore took the car into production and built 1,400 copies between 1954 and 1957. In 2007, Mercedes-Benz showed a test car that was also equipped with those characteristic gull-wing doors. The SLS AMG was officially introduced in 2009 as the successor to the SLR McLaren and everyone immediately recognized the 300 SL “Gullwing” in it. The gull-wing doors, the long nose and the seat quite far back, in the 300 SL this was necessary for the construction of the car, in the SLS AMG these are design elements.
