Today she discussed why providers may recommend a karyotype (AKA a chromosome analysis or cytogenetic analysis) if you have a history of recurrent pregnancy loss. She reviews what a karyotype is and how it can detect a structural chromosome rearrangement called a translocation or inversion. She shares her own normal karyotype. She also reviews how professional groups (ASRM and ESHRE) recommend karyotype. Lastly she explains and how your treatment plan might change if you have an abnormal karyotype result.
