The entire area of Detroit that borders Grosse Pointe Park looks like a wasteland. The poverty rates in Detroit are extremely high, along with the violent crime rates. However, the very second that you cross either Alter Road or Mack Avenue into the neighboring city of Grosse Pointe Park, everything changes. Grosse Pointe Park is one of the safest and wealthiest cities in the Metro Detroit Area. Grosse Pointe Park is also only one of 5 different cities with Grosse Pointe in its name.
