Hawthorn University is delighted for the return of DeAnna Batdorff, Founder of the dhyana Center in Sonoma County, California and the Certified Ayurvedic Education Program for Part Two of Traditional Tools in Nutrition. DeAnna will continue to teach us food as medicine through an Ayurvedic Lens, and how this can empower each individual to listen to and understand body communications and to take action through food choices.


DeAnna will briefly review Part One of this series; what Ayurveda is, the Elements and Doshas, what foods and remedies benefit each individual's constitution and circumstances. Audience members are also encouraged to review Part One in the Hawthorn Webinar Archives.


Part Two will continue with:
• Examples of how to apply elemental remedies in specific circumstances;
• Foods best for Cold, Dry, Hot, Wet as well as Food Cravings for Cold, Dry, Hot, Wet;
• Spice up your life--the use of spices as medicine, flavor and for satisfying
cravings, for adding flavor and plant medicine to a meal, as well as rare
spices and global blends that are underutilized.


DeAnna Batdorff is the Founder of the dhyana Center (Sonoma County, CA) and the Certified Ayurvedic Education Program. She holds Licenses and Certifications in Cosmetology/Esthiology, Massage Therapy, Planetary Herbs, Clinical Aromatherapy and Nutrition Counseling and has completed many Clinical Internships. She is a contributor to several publications and has been sought out as a featured speaker and for interviews. DeAnna also volunteers her time generously. She created the Ayurvedic Donation Clinic for the under-served population and is the Executive Director of Aushadi Health Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit supporting people through the heart of Ayurveda.


DeAnna is a clinical practitioner and educator and has been working with HIV+/AIDS clientele for the past 30 years. Auto Immune Disorders are known to be her specialty, as well as working with high-risk health issues and rehabilitation.

DeAnna has supported well over 100,000 clients in her Ayurvedic practice and is ultimately an advocate for prevention, education of the human body, elemental theory and what it means to stay or become healthy for each individual.
