In this video Dr. Furlan explains:

Allodynia
Allodynia is a condition in which normally non-painful stimuli, such as a gentle touch or a light breeze, cause intense pain. It is a hypersensitivity to sensory input that can be a symptom of various medical conditions, including neuropathic and inflammatory disorders.

Hyperalgesia
Hyperalgesia refers to an increased sensitivity to painful stimuli, making normal pain perception more intense than it should be. It can be caused by damage to nerves or inflammation and is often seen in chronic pain conditions.

Hyperpathia
Hyperpathia is an extreme form of hypersensitivity to pain. It involves a heightened reaction to painful stimuli, often accompanied by delayed and prolonged discomfort. It is typically associated with damage to the nervous system, such as nerve injuries or neuropathies.

Neuropathic Pain
Neuropathic pain is a type of chronic pain caused by dysfunction or damage to the nervous system. This pain is often described as burning, shooting, or electrical in nature. Common causes include diabetic neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia, and nerve compression.

Nociplastic Pain
Nociplastic pain is a term used to describe chronic pain that arises from changes in the way the nervous system processes pain signals, even when there is no clear evidence of tissue damage or inflammation. It is often associated with conditions like fibromyalgia and involves altered pain processing in the central nervous system.
