As the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota) metropolitan area continues to expand into rural areas, family farms that have existed for over 100 years are being swallowed up. On the southwest edge of the Twin Cities metropolitan area is the city of Carver, where highway 212 has been expanding into a four-lane road. New housing developments, businesses, schools, and parks are gobbling up the farmland through the Carver area. See the changes through the years to sections 13 and 24 in Dahlgren Township, just west of the City of Carver. Several family farms have been lost to development, including the Riesgraf, Olsen, and Forner farms.
