So we dug up all the compostable cases that we buried a year ago. We weren’t sure what to expect as the area that we buried the compostable iPhone cases in is quite dry and hot during the summer months. Between the Pela Case, Incipio Organicore, Wilma Eco Essential, Casetify Conscious, UAG Outback and Caseable Eco Friendly, the case the degraded the most was the product from Casetify.

Now a year ago, we rated every product in the ground based on iPhone usability. The Top 3 ended up being the Incipio Organicore, UAG Outback and Casetify Conscious.

After taking into account how well the cases compost, here's the Top 3 list:

Now out of the all the cases we pulled out of the ground, there was clearly two groups. Cases that crumbled and ones that looked like they were left outside for a year. If we factor in compostability into the scoring system, the Casetify Conscious ends up being the best product. BUT Casetify doesn’t make the product anymore (they have the Ultra-Compostable which we haven’t tested yet).

So the Best Compostable Case for the iPhone 13? Is going to be the Incipio Organicore. It’s a thicker case so it will offer more protection than most compostable cases but it still suffers from a color problem.
