How many eggs should you expect to get from your egg retrieval for your IVF or egg freezing cycle?

Dr. Johnson, a fertility doctor in Charlotte, NC explains how she estimates the number of eggs that you may be able to get from your egg retrieval. This is what she can tell based off of your Day 3 antral follicle count (AFC) when you start your cycle.

Each follicle typically contains an egg.

However, as she notes, it is not about how many eggs you get, it's a bout how many of those eggs are mature.

Mature eggs are be used for IVF to create embryos and only mature eggs are frozen during an egg freezing cycle.
