Back in 2019 we drove the Volkswagen Atlas Execline, a 3-row mid-size crossover from VW, and their largest passenger car ever. We had a few complaints about it overall, and drove it back to back with the 2020 Kia Telluride giving us a good idea of what else was on the market. At the time we said it was a good choice if you really loved the brand, but overall other vehicles offered more for less. This time around we're looking at the Atlas Cross Sport, a 2-row only version with a shaved rear end, sporting a slightly different profile and overall design.

Our full tour and review of this 2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport goes over all the differences from the 2019 that we drove including the updated exterior styling, the R-Line package and how it resembles VW's current R Cars more than before, the specification differences over the regular Atlas, and the interior changes including LED lighting, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Qi compatible wireless phone charging, an updated digital cockpit, and a new steering wheel.

We then take the Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport on a real world road test to talk about our independent fuel economy testing, our overall impressions of this crossover, and some of the reasons you might want to consider this. We also discuss how this vehicle compares to the other mid-size crossovers we've driven recently and how it stacks up with these new changes and features added for this model year.
