2018 has not been a great year for me so far. I have failed at pretty much everything I aimed to do and that made me extremely self critical. I was also being too hard on myself especially when I looked at myself in the mirror and my planner.

I realized that I needed to pick up the pieces of my life and restart my life. But this time I wanted to do it right, with self love and self compassion. Here are some self love tips that helped me...

1. Journal - Journaling helps me keep all the good or the bad feelings off my chest. And when I look back, it makes me proud to see how far I have come.

2. Accept - Accepting your life, abilities, failures and self is empowering. It liberates you from having too high an expectation on yourself. It also enables you to not get affected by criticism.

3. Re-frame - When you change the perspective with which you receive, you might as find it useful. It spares you from unnecessary hurt.

4. Take responsibility - Own up to your own failures and shortcoming and not blame fate or someone else. This allows you to see that you alone can fix what you broke.

5. Challenge yourself - Who doesn't love a good challenge. and it gets more fun especially when you face it without any bother of success or failure.

6. Me-time - Make time for yourself to pamper yourself, for your hobby, for something that makes you happy to recharge your soul.

7. Healthy lifestyle - It is impossible to feel miserable when you lead a healthy lifestyle that includes a good diet and workout.

8. Meditate - Self love meditation helps look at yourself with kindness, compassion and a new sense of confidence. Practice it regularly, and you will learn to love yourself and become confident.

9. Compassion - If someone is being spiteful, show compassion. This helps you love yourself even more for taking the higher route.

10. Focus on the positive - When you have only one life and one body, why spend it being too hard on yourself.

I say, love yourself, practice self love everyday and enjoy being alive.
