Today’s video is a bit of a mixed bag vlog style video answering a couple of viewer questions (do I have a washing line? how is my 3 ball topiary doing?), showing you my new chair for Woodland Courtyard which Richard is going to fix for me before I stain and varnish it, telling you all about mt new winter project which is going to be to learn to play the piano and a quick tour of our garden office which we call The Cabin … but the main event and the most exciting thing of all is unboxing a rare collection of ferns and cuttings sent to me by one of my viewers (who has now become a very good friend) Mark Border.

Mark is an expert on ferns and is an avid collector too. He has some extremely rare varieties and he told me that he wants to pass on cuttings of these beautiful rarities so that they can continue to flourish and never die out completely.

I was just so touched and honoured that he took the time and trouble to carefully wrap and send these to me, and he also sent me long messages with descriptions and stories about each one.

I now have them all lovingly potted up and will do my utmost to look after them.

If anyone has any questions about anything to do with ferns (or anything else for that matter), Mark is happy for you to get in touch with him and he will be delighted to help you. His email address is:
