Recent constitutional cases in Nepal have elaborated on the right to a healthy and clean environment in the context of natural resource protection, climate change, and wildlife conservation. Nepalese jurisprudence has also interacted with international law, drawing from treaty regimes such as the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and concepts such as ecocide. On Feb. 9, Harvard Law School hosted Justice Ananda Mohan Bhattarai of the Supreme Court of Nepal, for a discussion moderated by Clinical Professor Tyler Giannini on the country’s experience with environmental constitutionalism.
