Cast Iron Wednesday, December 7, 2022: Tonight we'll be having a discussion of cast iron size numbers. For many years the size number on a cast iron pan was not actually a description of its size, though that changed recently; in fact, there are many aspects of cast iron cookware that have to do with the size number on the pan. The size number is a marking on the pan that be used to identify it, especially with older vintage pans. Different manufacturers made their cast iron cookware with different standards, and because of this the size number could be inaccurate. And of course, different sized cast iron pans have different uses, and you can do things with a #14 sized skillet that you may not be able to do with a tiny #3 size skillet. There are many questions that can be asked about cast iron size numbers, and we'll be spending some time discussing this subject. We'll be working our way from the tiny #3 sized pans...and #2, and smaller pans...all the way up to the giant sized #14, and #16, and #20 pans and beyond. This is a YouTube Live chat, and questions of all kinds about are encouraged...and answers are also encouraged. Feel free to comment, ask questions and answer them, as we have fun talking about cast iron tonight!
