In today’s video, Eugene Teo stopped by the Mind Pump HQ to demonstrate these fantastic cues to help you improve your deadlift. There are many common mistakes that can happen when setting up for your deadlift and these cues will help you understand how to avoid these mistakes so that you can lift safely.
4 Point Checklist:
Bracing 0:45
- Breathe through your nose
- Should feel sides of waist begin to expand
Engaging Lats 1:35
- Reach hands as far down as possible without arching spine
- Should feel tension being created in your back
Hips & Feet Stance 2:42
- Stand in a comfortable stance
- Think of pulling feet apart outwards
- Should feel chain from legs to lower back begin to engage
Grabbing The Bar 3:20
- Pulling “slack out of bar”
- Leveraging weight against the barbell
- Allowing you to lean your body into a good position
