I review this 2023 Chevy 3500 HD 6.6L Duramax Diesel (L5P) for a MAX TOWING Test. I load 20,000lbs on concrete behind this Chevy 3500 pick up truck and run it down the highway over the Appalachian Mountains to see if this Duramax Diesel has enough power to tow this heavy trailer.

This weekend I had the pleasure of testing this brand new 2023 Chevy 3500 HD Duramax Diesel engine and strapping its max towing capacity behind it and seeing how this Duramax handles the heavy load. r

I go over the engine specs like how this Duramax engine makes 445HP and 910 pound feet of torque which is wild.

Next I talk about the different towing specs for the 3500 platform. technically the 3500's are rated for 36,000lbs but that is only a specific configuration of truck. the truck I had had a MAX towing ability of 20,000lbs and so I loaded up 20,000lbs of concrete on my trailer and towed it down the highway

I was surprised how easily this diesel engine towed the weight once it got to cruising speed. it just goes to show how well these diesel engines are towing heavy stuff.

went going down hills I got to see the Chevy exhaust brake working very well as well as the engine downshifting to slow the truck down. I didn't have to hit the brakes once.

on the way up the big slopes this Duramax had plenty of power to keep up cruising speed. in fact we didn't lose any speed at all. the truck worked very well and there is plenty of power out of this Duramax diesel engine when towing a heavy trailer.

Overall I was very impressed how easily this Duramax diesel towed it's max trailer weight on some pretty steep hills.

I can't wait to get other trucks and engine on the same route to compare them to the Duramax!
