Welcome back to my thyroid chronicles - which has led me further down the rabbit hole into the adrenal chapter.
My results are in from my ZRT labs Adrenal Stress profile and they are quite the doozy.
They also explain my lingering fatigue, mental, and libidos issues (despite getting optimal on OTC NDT, optimizing my iron values, and doing lots of gut healing work).
Low, low, low, and low cortisol at all 4 cortisol test points throughout the day, with low DHEAS to boot. No change from 3 years ago when I tested my adrenals and sex hormones.
(I did not retest my sex hormones this time in frugal efforts, but I can always retest later using a different ZRT Hormone kit.)
According to the revised (2019) version of the Stop the Thyroid Madness book, patients in my adrenal situation did well with bio-identical cortisol treatment (aka oral hydrocortisone).
Since I like to advocate for myself, I have ordered some from the UK as a supplement (but this is not something that should be taken lightly or without first testing and then plans to repeat testing later, nor without help from a competent doctor).
I plan to find a doctor that understands the methodology behind this protocol, but since it took me so long to find a good thyroid doctor, I wanted to give myself a head start before starting the vetting process for one that understands hormones and adrenals.
If you have any questions please do reach out and I am happy to chat with you!
