Complete Differential Overhaul: DIY Step-by-Step Tutorial. Differential Rebuild and Upgrade

In this video I'm going to show you how to do a complete rebuild of a differential assembly. It does not matter the type of differential you are working on the basic procedure for rebuilding a differential is the same. This video is aimed at the DIY'er who has never attempted a repair like this before. Just for reference I will be rebuilding a Ford 8.8

We will cover how to strip the 8.8 differential down to a bare housing, carrier bearing removal, pinion bearing removal, installing a ring gear, pressing on new carrier bearings, selecting the correct pinion shim, installing the pinion bearings, setting pinion preload, setting backlash and finally checking the gear pattern.
