We learned this week of the sad death of Sinead O'Connor, trail blazing musician from the 80's and 90's who struggled all her life with mental health issues that stemmed from her traumatic childhood and were made worse by a hysterectomy she had 6 years previously (surgery is another trauma to the body - she discussed this in her autobiography).
Here I discuss the effects of trauma on people and how a dysregulated nervous system plays out in the life as exemplified by Sinead.
*Please note we still do not know exactly how she died. People often presume suicide but of course it may have simply been an accidental overdose of her medication.*
Either way it is a tragic and unnecessary loss of a beautiful and gifted woman.
