About a week after Eleanor was born, she was diagnosed with Down syndrome and transient myeloproliferative disorder (TMD), which occurs in about 20% of patients with Down syndrome. Unfortunately, TMD automatically increased her chance of developing leukemia and when she was 18 months old, Eleanor was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndromes and acute myeloid leukemia (MDS-AML). After six months of chemotherapy, Eleanor ended her cancer treatment in June 2021 and today, Eleanor continues to make big strides — a picture of hope.
