In isolated cases, polymerization of refrigerant R1234yf may occur, leading to a substance with a silicone-like consistency. Improper handling of the problem can lead to the total failure of the A/C service unit.

While reasons are not 100% investigated, the phenomenon can happen due to moisture and high temperatures, for instance, when bottles are exposed to direct sunlight or if there's a leaky pressure valve.

Here are some precautions you can take:

► Only obtain R1234yf from trusted sources and store it properly.
► Open the bottle valve slowly to avoid sudden pressure increase.
► Keep your device clean and free from metal dust.
► Avoid using hoses, seals, etc., made of peroxide-containing materials.
► Use approved PTFE sealing tape for sealing.
► Regularly check attachments and connections for leaks.

Remember, if you find signs of polymerization, don't attempt your own repairs. Contact MAHLE customer service or your refrigerant supplier instead.
